Depending on the organ, there are different pH values ​​in the body. In the stomach it is very sour - here is produced hydrochloric acid. Saliva and duodenum also have basic values. Only in the blood is the pH constant at 7.4. The acid-base balance of the blood is regulated by a sophisticated system, because even minor deviations can lead to serious organ damage.

Acids always occur in the body when protein is digested. With every energy process in the body cells, carbon dioxide is released. Too little exercise ensures that the acids formed can not be removed and are deposited, inter alia, in the connective tissue. However, there are also genetically or disease-related disorders of the acid-base balance, for example, a limited functioning of the base-controlling organs such as pancreas, gallbladder or liver. The respiratory center in the brain and lungs can control the pH of the blood by the minute, adjusting the depth and speed of the breath. With increased breathing, the carbon dioxide content of the blood decreases and it becomes alkaline. As the breathing becomes flatter, the carbon dioxide content of the blood increases and it becomes acidic.

Gout and Co.

Some diseases that are due to acid-base disorders have long been known. The best known is certainly gout. Gout is caused by the accumulation of uric acid crystals in the joints, which then become inflamed and painful.

Gout is considered a pronounced affliction, because the uric acid excess comes from the protein metabolism. Uric acid is produced when meat is broken down. Alcohol also contributes to it. In vegetarians, however, gout is almost unknown, although legumes such as peas and lentils are unfavorable for the production of uric acid. It is conceivable that vegetable proteins do not burden the body as much as animal ones.

Gout is more likely to be attributed to the diseases of connective tissue and joints, even if there are specific dietary recommendations for gout sufferers. In medicine, the idea that a chronic hyperacidity in the wrong way of life is possible and harmful, is slow.

Even without gout or the predisposition to a constant subliminal acidity contributes to the fact that one feels uncomfortable or ill.
