Detergents - what to consider?

Pore-deep purity - a dream, which suggests the advertising above all. It should not only prevail in kitchen and bathroom, but preferably everywhere. In the advertising and supermarkets, more and more cleaning agents are offered, which should make all organisms in the household run out. But do we really need them, the perfect cleanliness?

What are microorganisms?

Among the microorganisms include bacteria, yeasts and molds. Microorganisms are very small. They measure 1/100 to 1/1000 mm and can be seen individually only under the microscope. Only when they multiply strongly and are together in a cluster of several millions do they become visible without a microscope. Because they are usually not visible to the naked eye, seemingly "clean" surfaces, objects, hands or food from a microbial point of view, "unclean", so be colonized with germs.

How dangerous are microorganisms?

But the human body is not defenseless against the microorganisms. Since our environment is naturally populated with many types of germs, humans are used to dealing with them without becoming ill. What else applies to some pathogens, if they are present only in small quantities and the body is healthy and thus ready to defend.

On the contrary, the confrontation with germs even has advantages, because this is how we train our body's defense - especially in childhood an important prerequisite, in order not to become permanently ill or allergic. In addition, numerous microorganisms in our intestines serve well, for example during digestion.

The problem only becomes problematic when the germs multiply very strongly. For example, cell division can quickly turn one germ into thousands and millions of germs. For example, a dirty wet cloth can easily be populated with 100 million germs per square centimeter and more. If this is used for cleaning surfaces, there can be no question of "cleaning". Rather, it develops into a "germ spinner".

Replace the dishcloth and sponge regularly and hang them up so they can dry out. Heat the wet dishwashing utensils (if they do not contain metal) for two minutes every morning at the highest level of performance - so you kill 99% of all germs! You do not own a microwave? Then put your dishwashing brush with plastic handle on the next wash in the dishwasher.
