Barbecue - with vegetables and fruits

Not only meat cuts a fine figure on the grill. Also potatoes and vegetables are ideal as side dishes or vegetarian appetizers for the grill menu. What you should pay particular attention to when preparing grilled vegetables, you will learn with our basics. Many vegetables such as tomatoes, onions, peppers, zucchini or aubergines are made for the rust. Colorful BBQ ideas such as Mediterranean vegetables on a spit or stuffed peppers can also be eaten by the eye.

Do not apply marinade too soon

Depending on taste, the vegetables can be cut whole or in pieces, skewered, prepared with herbs or other ingredients such as cheese or marinaded. The imagination knows no limits. However, the marinade should be dabbed with a brush shortly before the end of the barbecue time. As with meat, the more herbs or sugar the marinade contains, the faster it burns on the grill. Vegetables with long cooking times (carrots, kohlrabi or beetroot) must be cut into very thin slices or pre-cooked. Corn on the cob, mushrooms or fennel are suitable for grilling and, like potatoes cooked in foil, a vitamin-rich delicacy.

Grill vegetables properly

Alufoil plays an important role in vegetable grilling. The food is cooked very gently in the foil and does not dry out. The most common question that vegetable lovers face on the grid is probably the one on the right side of the slide. The glossy side of the aluminum foil belongs to the inside, because it reflects the heat much better on the food to be grilled than the dull side. The matte side can absorb heat better and therefore belongs to the outside. For potatoes, courgettes or onions, it is recommended to coat the glossy foil side with some oil before wrapping the vegetables in it.

Barbecue with fruit

Who is not a vegetable fan and is more on sweet vitamins, can do something good with a grilled fruit skewer for dessert. Simply cut fruits like apples, pears, bananas, peaches or apricots into pieces, marinate with fruit juice and spices and stick them on skewers. Whole bananas are laid unpeeled on the grid. They are even when the shell is black. Especially good for this fits a chocolate dip. After all, chocolate also melts well in the residual heat.
