Lemons are real all-rounders: a hot lemon should help with colds and sore throats because of its high vitamin C content. In addition, lemon juice should also be good for the hair and help against pimples. But what about the whole assertions? In 100 grams of lemon pulp can put up to 50 milligrams of vitamin C. Thus, the daily requirement for vitamin C is already half covered. More vitamin C is found in only a few fruits - including acerola cherries, guavas, papayas and blackcurrants. In addition to vitamin C, lemons also contain noteworthy amounts of potassium, magnesium and calcium.

Especially in winter, a hot lemon is a popular drink to prevent colds and sore throats. Vitamin C is particularly effective when it is taken preventively. But even if the infection has already broken out, you can still make yourself a hot lemon. The infection does not necessarily heal faster, but the immune system still benefits.

If you are preparing a hot lemon fresh, you should not pour over the lemon juice with boiling water. Vitamin C is very sensitive to heat and may otherwise break down before it enters the body. Sweeten the hot drink with a little honey instead of sugar, because honey is said to have a positive effect on colds - especially in sore throats.

Effective against pimples?

Lemons are often used not only for colds, but also for the care of the skin. Since the contained vitamin C scavenges free radicals, the acidic fruits should have an anti-aging effect.

Lemons should not only keep the skin young, but also help against unsightly pimples. Despite their disinfecting effect, the use of lemons for pimples is not recommended, as the juice can cause severe skin irritation, especially with sensitive skin.

Lemon juice is not only used against pimples, but also to lighten the hair. It is enough to give some lemon juice into damp hair, to distribute and then dry the hair dry. However, the juice is relatively aggressive and the hair can dry out by the acid. That's why you better not use this method for hair lightening.

Lose weight with lemon juice
