The treatment or therapy of fibromyalgia includes medicinal, physiotherapeutic and physical-therapeutic approaches. Before the drug administration, however, is the patient training and a special endurance training. Here, the person concerned learns everything about fibromyalgia and how he can influence it through his dealings with it. He is informed of the chronic nature of the disease fibromyalgia and referred to a daily routine adapted to this condition.
Fibromyalgia: exercise as a therapy
In particular, a regular wake-up sleep routine should be followed with daily equal sleep times. In addition to the drug treatment, it is very important to have regular, ie daily physical activity.
This can initially be done in the form of a physiotherapeutic care, but in the long term, a self-administered exercise unit is sufficient to alleviate pain. Ergotherapy, tai chi and qigong are also helpful.
Accompanying physical-therapeutic measures such as heat therapy, massage or electrotherapy are used.
Fibromyalgia: therapy by medication
The drugs used are preferably antidepressants (amitryptiline) or sleeping pills from the group of benzodiazepines. These can cause a significant reduction of symptoms in the patients by positively influencing the deep sleep phase. Important is a slow dose increase to achieve an optimal effect with still tolerable side effects. Side effects include weight gain, dry mouth and dysregulation.
All known analgesics, especially antirheumatics such as diclofenac or ibuprofen, are not suitable for the treatment of fibromyalgia since it is not an inflammatory pain. They should therefore not be used here.
Long-term care is tailored to each individual.
Supplementary treatment for fibromyalgia
In addition, acupuncture, homeopathy and psychological treatment are used. Relaxation procedures such as autogenic training or progressive muscle relaxation according to Jacobson complete the treatment.
From a treatment in a cold chamber, a TENS treatment or tender point injections (tender points) advise the experts in the current study.

Prevention and course of fibromyalgia
Due to the lack of a clear cause, prevention is not possible. The course is chronic. Causal therapy is currently not possible because of the unknown cause. Unfortunately, a cure or lasting improvement is rather rare and makes an individual prognosis difficult.
It should be emphasized, however, that despite the lengthy course, it never comes to functional impairments - unlike, for example, in chronic polyarthritis, which is associated with severe functional limitations. It is important in the case of illness to consistently maintain active mobility.
