Cold - M to P

M - tiredness

When we have a cold, the body produces the substance TNF-alpha, which plays an important role in the immune system and the defense against bacteria and viruses. Scientists suspect that this messenger also causes a change in the sleep and wake cycles. As a result, we feel tired and exhausted when we have a cold.
Although there are combined with caffeine for colds combined, which bring the circulation something - but it is rather harmful to nip his diseased body - so he is pretended to be not so weakened, which is easily overestimated. In truth, we recover faster when we give in to the increased need for rest and sleep. If we are active, instead of keeping bed rest, the organism would waste only unnecessary energy, which it can better use to fight the bacilli. It was not for nothing that grandmother advised: "Sleep well!"

N - nose

In the case of a cold, we pay much more attention to our nose than usual. If almost every cold is usually accompanied by a harmless cold, the nasal mucosa swells and most of the time the paranasal sinuses are also affected. Constant sneezing, runny nose, whiskers and headaches are the result. Your doctor may prescribe you expectorant medications such as nasal sprays, nasal drops or inhalation solutions containing essential oils. Make sure to bring your head in bed in an elevated position, so the mucus can drain. Liquids such as tea, water and diluted fruit juices also dilute the mucus.

For a sufficient humidity, the apartment should be ventilated regularly. Cigarette smoke is an absolute taboo. In addition, you can deal with the inflammation with infrared radiation. If the symptoms have not improved after three days, you should consult a specialist. Anyone who suffers from sinusitis should consult with their ear, nose and throat doctor if surgery (such as straightening the nasal septum) is necessary.

O - earache

Often, the pathogens spread through the nasal and pharyngeal mucosa to the middle ear. Especially children often suffer from earache in the course of a cold. While otitis media requires immediate medical attention, usually with antibiotics, you can treat a mild inflammation with ear drops with a glycerine mixture from the pharmacy. Important: always go to the doctor with pus in the ear! Be careful with cotton swabs, which usually push plugs further into the ear than they serve for cleaning.

Try once again the following home remedy for earache: Wrap a chopped onion in a tissue, wait until it is soaked in onion juice (a little crush the onion pieces) and put on your ear for half an hour. The same thing works with a bunch of chopped parsley in a gauze. In addition, chew chewing gum more often, which will better deaerate the ear.

P - paracetamol

Paracetamol is a widely used analgesic that also reduces fever. Paracetamol is freely available in small doses and is used especially for headache, dental and menstrual pain. The drug is generally well tolerated and is also given to children - side effects are rare. Nevertheless, acetaminophen, like other painkillers and medicines, should not be taken in high doses or over a longer period of time, otherwise liver and kidney damage can occur. The dosage depends on the age and body weight of the patient.

It should be noted that paracetamol is also included in some combination products, which is why you should not take other supplements to these. There are acetaminophen in the form of tablets, capsules, suppositories, juices and syrups.
