Which workstation eyewear is right for you?
The decision is made, a spectacles for the screen work is her. But: which ones take? Before going to the optician, some tips will help you to keep in mind when buying a workstation goggles. The Kuratorium Gut See (KGS) has put together some suggestions - the last word should have the optician of trust.
What to look for?
The first look at the purchase of a screen workplace glasses goes to the socket. "There are almost no restrictions here - except for the size of the socket, " reports Kerstin Kruschinski from the board of trustees "Gute Sehen". VDU eyeglasses have special lenses that are ground similar to progressive lenses.
Therefore, workstation goggles as well as progressive spectacles need a certain slice height to accommodate the different viewing zones - a guideline is at least 30 millimeters. "In short, the tiny John Lennon eyeglass frame is not a good fit - mini eyewear is simply too small for the different viewing zones for different viewing distances, and anything else is allowed, " Kruschinski summarizes.
The fact that the spectacle frame should be as light as possible, comfortable to wear and optimally adapted to the personal face shape is not only valid for VDU workstation goggles, but in general. "Spring hinges and flexible ironing materials contribute significantly to the wearing comfort and thus to relaxed vision and work, " says Kruschinski.
VDU goggles: glass or plastic glasses?
With the glasses, the variations are also lush. Each eyeglass manufacturer has his own method to optimally adjust the screen lenses. Michael Oswald from glass specialist Essilor reports: "The glass you personally manage the best is different individually." As with progressive lenses, in some cases it can take a few days until the visual sense of the new glasses is adjusted even better compatible than progressive spectacles ".
Especially recommended are glasses made of plastic. They weigh considerably less than discs made of mineral glass. The plastic glasses sometimes reported problems in scratch sensitivity are now a thing of the past. Mineral glasses are actually only in exceptional cases in extremely dusty or dirty working environments, such as in the office container on the construction site or at the control room of a production plant, a tolerable alternative.
When it comes to additional equipment and coating, experts recommend non-reflecting glasses, which can demonstrate their strengths especially in office environments with numerous different light sources. Whether you want to use an additional 12- to 15-percent tint to enhance contrast, that's a matter of taste: one likes it, the other not. The optician usually has sample glasses with different tints, making the selection easier.
