1. Stains on fingernails mean calcium deficiency
Not correct. The white patches that appear and grow out of the nail are not the result of calcium, zinc or vitamin deficiency. Most of these are minor injuries or pressure sores, such as nail care or air pockets in the nail plate.
2. Carrots are good for the eyes
Not correct. Although carrots provide a preform of the vitamin A that is important for the eyes, beta carotene. However, this does not affect our vision in normal quantities.
However, there is a substance that is responsible for the light-dark vision. It consists of a protein and vitamin A. Dawn vision therefore really depends on vitamin A. A deficiency of this vitamin, however, occurs in contrast to some developing countries in this country but rarely.
3. Vegetarians live longer
Not correct. Some studies show that vegetarians have a longer life expectancy. However, this is not due to a renunciation of meat or other animal products, but with the otherwise very conscious way of life of vegetarians - with balanced nutrition, low alcohol and cigarettes and more sports.
4. Alcohol warms
Not correct. After drinking alcohol, it actually gets warm for a short while, because the alcohol makes the pulse go. Due to the also caused vasodilation, the blood pressure decreases, however, so that a reasonable blood flow is no longer guaranteed. The body then threatens to cool down quickly, which has exactly the opposite effect.
5. Reading at dim light damages the eyes
Not correct. Above all, reading in low light is one thing: hard on the eyes. They dry up and start to burn, so for the moment the eyesight is actually limited. Driving a car, for example, should be avoided afterwards. After a recovery period, however, the eyes are fully capable again.
6. Spinach is healthy because it contains a lot of iron
Not correct. Spinach is a valuable vegetable that stimulates muscle growth, strengthens sight and respiratory system. But it contains little more iron than chocolate. And the iron actually contained in the spinach is not even usable.
The story of this particularly iron-rich vegetables has its origins in a comma error. In an iron analysis more than 100 years ago, the actual iron content of 2.9 milligrams in 100 grams of spinach was inadvertently given as 29 milligrams. This comma error has been passed on for generations.
7. Fresh vegetables are healthier than frozen vegetables
Not correct. If the vegetables are not from your own garden or from a farmer nearby, you can assume that frozen vegetables contain more vitamins and are therefore healthier than vegetables from the supermarket.
Because vegetables are often transported over long distances and stored for a long time. In addition, it is often already harvested immature, while frozen vegetables are frozen and harvest fresh within an hour shock-frozen. In this condition, vital substances break down only slowly.
8. Nothing can be done against tinnitus

The sooner tinnitus is treated, the better the chances of successfully treating tinnitus. The greatest opportunities exist in the first three months after the onset of symptoms.
9. Snoring is harmless
Not correct. Snoring is a complex relationship between breathing and relaxed muscles of the nose and throat. Whenever the airways are narrowed, the typical snoring sound is heard. There are some anatomical conditions, such as enlarged polyps and pharyngeal tonsils, which increase the effect.
As you get older, your muscles also go limp, which also makes snoring easier. People who snore have partial suffocation during sleep. During these mostly unnoticed fits of choking breathing lasts up to two minutes at a time. Snoring is harmless for colds with a cold.
10. Pre-tanning protects against sunburn
Not correct. Pre-tanning on the sunbed is of no use. In solariums, UVA radiation is used in particular. Although they tan the skin at once, they do not provide adequate protection for the skin at all, because protection of the skin can only be built up by means of the sun's UVB rays.
