The truth about atkins diet

The Atkins diet, without doubt, was the most controversial diet of all time. Seldom has a week, that the media does not mention the Atkins diet.

The Atkins diet, first in 1972 by cardiologist Dr. Robert Atkins, is considered the most extreme low-carb diet. Hundreds of studies by universities and research teams throughout North America, Europe and Asia were in the Atkins diet.

The Atkins diet, as with any diet program, has its good and bad points – but what side you are on, one thing is certain. Dr. Atkins and the Atkins diet has done for the food industry, which has Mohammad Ali for boxing. Dr. Atkins new awareness and new concepts, which always affect how we prepare ourselves for weight loss diet and nutrition for health. Although the low-carb diet was first written about in the late 1800′s, low carb diet really came to life with the birth of the Atkins diet.

Let’s take a look at three good and bad points of the Atkins diet.

Atkins diet – The good stuff.

1st The Atkins diet burns fat faster than any other diet. The human body is for the use of two different fuels to life – from sugar or glucose ketones from fat. Glucose is the main fuel, fat backup. Any weight loss diet based on the concept of burning fat. Traditional diets in general are designed to burn fat by starvation – from eating fewer calories than you every day. This causes the body to dive into their reserve energy source – the fat around your abdomen and thigh.

The Atkins diet approaches fat burning a different way. It limits the glucose (carb) recording so that the body adapts to with ketones (FAT) as its primary fuel. Usually within three to four days, your body is literally a fat burning machine in the Atkins diet.

2nd The Atkins diet does not leave you hungry. Unlike most traditional diets, the Atkins diet is not based so much on calorie intake. Dr. Atkins, however, warn that you should not stuff yourself, but only eat until satisfied. Also, because you replace sugar with protein, and the main protein source is meat, a high percentage of each meal consists of meat and fat. Meat and fat are more and much slower to digest. Not only do you feel more satisfied for dinner, but it stays with you more about the Atkins diet.

3rd The Atkins diet is safe and healthy. The vast majority of studies show the Atkins diet to be extremely healthy, compared to other conventional weight loss diet and lifestyle. Nearly every study shows the Atkins diet the winner in reducing cholesterol, triglycerides and high blood pressure. In addition, many cases of acid reflux, sleep apnea and diabetes have either had the symptoms reduced or completely disappear while on the Atkins diet.

Also, you often hear: “We have no way to know the long-term safety of low-carb diet.” The fact is that the Atkins diet has been around for over 30 years – more than most other programs to weight loss. Although the first written about at the end of the 19th Century, the low carb diet has actually been around for centuries.

How so? The North American Eskimo. Their diet is mainly still no or very little sugar. But chronic diseases, the epidemic today, such as diabetes and heart disease, were virtually unknown to the Eskimos. At least this was true until they were introduced to sugar and white flour. The Eskimos have been well studied and found that a healthy and Hardy Bunch, even after centuries of living on a low carb diet. Yes – a low-carb diet much more extreme than even the Atkins diet.

Atkins Diet – The bad things.

1st The Atkins diet to burn fat fast. The primary concern here is toxic overload. If toxins enter the body, either from environmental sources or additives in foods prepared, your body’s defense mechanism will quickly try to eliminate them through the liver and kidneys. Often, the congestion, so that the body also hide some of these toxins in your fat cells. When burning fat these toxins released into your bloodstream. You can experience toxic overload, if you burn fat too quickly, as in the first weeks or months after the Atkins diet.

2nd The Atkins diet causes fatigue. Yes, it is first – for a few reasons. First, switching fuels from ketones glucose is too stressful for the body. It is a drastic change in your metabolism. One could say it’s similar to mild drug withdrawal. Many people actually have a “carb addiction” and not even realize. Secondly, because we learned a minute before, your body is very likely to work hard dealing with toxic overload when burning fat too quickly, so early in the Atkins diet.

3rd The Atkins diet is not a good diet. Plant life is the basic food source for all living creatures, including humans. When an animal eats plants, some of the nutrients, like calcium and other minerals, are sent to different parts of the body, where necessary. And even if we eat an animal from nose to tail, including the bones, we are still missing some of these essential nutrients and enzymes, which burned in the metabolic process. Good nutrition suffers when we drastically limit sugar, especially with the induction phase of Atkins diet.

Atkins Diet – Is it right for you?

The Atkins diet has been proven safe, effective and Dr. Atkins’ nutritional concepts are basically sound. This is probably the best choice for quick weight loss for an upcoming wedding or cruise – or to jump start your new life. Much water and a good vitamin supplement is strongly recommended, with ANY diet, but especially with the Atkins diet.

The Atkins diet can lead to a less aggressive program if you have a lot of weight to lose and carefully selecting lose the pounds more slowly over a longer period. This would be less stress, much healthier and give the skin stretched a chance to shrink. Skipping the induction phase is a possibility. You can use this more sustainable over the long haul with the Atkins diet.

An important key to health and success with a low-carb diet is to make every carb count, you live by nutrient dense sugar. These include fresh vegetables such as broccoli, cabbage, spinach and green beans. This is of vital importance, where sugar very limited – such as with the first two phases of the Atkins diet.
